I am new to soap making. I mixed all the different soap types when melting to create my master piece. I swirled in the fragrance at the end before things started to cool down. Once cooled they just popped out.

I ordered this kit so that I could try several different melt and pour soap bases, as well as the different colorants. So far I have made the oatmeal soap using the yellow iron oxide. It turned out great! I am very pleased with value and quality of this kit, and will be ordering other kits from this seller.

I never try before, but it is easy to melt and add color. A normal glass measure cup in microwave is good enough. I have so much fun that now I have 2 box full to use.

I've been making cold proces soap for a few years now, but I've never actually used any of the key ingredients in the three sample bases from this kit, nor did I have any colorant on hand or for that matter, smaller individual soap bar molds (I use a loaf mold, normally, and slice the bars off that way).So, all that being said? This kit was a no brainer for me. The soap bases are each individually wrapped and labeled, as well as the mica powders, which by the way, are double-sealed inside a separate bag just in case one of themhappens to spring a leak in storage or shipping, so that's a nice plus.You'll definitely want to get more soap base after this, and I recommend getting a microwave-safe container explicitly for melting soap (Not included, but $1 at Wal-Mart or $.05 at a thrift store, or about $5 on Amazon :P). An unsharpened pencil works great as a stir stick!The included mold is definitely flimsy so you'd better be ready and place it where you don't mind leaving it for awhile, or as another review suggested, placing it on a cookie sheet for stability, but that's a feature, not a bug. A hard mold makes removing the finished product next to impossible (See also: my failed experiment to use a soda can as a handmade candle mold. It works, but you can only do it once per can ;))All in all a great little kit either for complete beginners to soapmaking and/or soap art, or to someone who started with either cold or hot process, but wants to get more into the art and less into the science.
