Ok, I just received this kit, and have not yet had the time to make this soap. I’m a fairly experienced cold process soap crafter.

The directions included in this kit are great. As fun as it is to make soap from scratch, it is not without certain hazards. Please go to the library or buy a book or two on Amazon that shows step by step instructions. Go over these and start making soap. Do NOT be afraid to calculate and measure your own lye and distilled water, it’s really no big deal, and you’ll be happy you did. Making your own soap is a lot of fun, so you might as well learn how to do it correctly, and precise measurements are crucial in soap making, down to the last half drop. Several soap making websites provide an online calculator, all you have to do is plug in what they ask you.

So, there you have it. This kit is nice. I love the fact that this kit includes so many colors, and their choice of oils, too. The combination that they are providing is the ideal mix to produce a bar that balances moisturizing with a nice, hard bar that will also bubble and lather. As you get more into it, you will also learn how to substitute and experiment different oils and additives to fine tune soaps for yourself, family, friends, etc.

We are really excited to try this product as we just get into home made soap making. What you get is a pre mixed oil with 1/3 of coconut oil, 1/3 of palm oil,, 1/3 of Olive oil and castor oil in a microwave safe pouch. When you are about to make your own soap, you can input in the soap calculator to find the amount need for lye an water, which is not included in the package.
What we really like about this is it comes with 8 colorants and a mold, that we can experiment with, and if we like it, we can order more of the color that we want.
What is missing from the contents are lye and essential oils, assuming you want to add fragrance into your soap. This makes a good gift giving idea for your friends, coworkers, or family members who wants to get started in making your own soap.
